- Single acting (spring return) automatically returns to Fail Close or Fail Open by spring force when air pressure is lost, making it suitable for lines where safety shutoff is critical. Double acting drives the valve pneumatically in both open and close directions, offering advantages in torque margin and response speed, but position retention is uncertain when air pressure is lost. Single acting is generally chosen for lines handling flammable or hazardous substances and lines requiring emergency shutoff.
- How do I choose between 2PC and 3PC?
- 2PC has fewer parts and fewer leakage points, offering a cost advantage. 3PC allows the center body and two end caps to be separated for seat and ball servicing without dismantling the pipeline, making it the standard choice for lines with frequent maintenance or that require long-term operation without full disassembly.
- How are Fail Close and Fail Open determined?
- The safe shutoff direction is determined by process hazard analysis (HAZOP) results.
