Vacuum Outer Ring (Aluminum)

Model: PVF-10

PVF-10 is an aluminum outer ring used at KF (NW) and ISO standard vacuum-flange joints to wrap and fix the position of the O-ring. Paired with a centering ring, it keeps the O-ring properly positioned during flange engagement, and is used at vacuum-piping flange connections in semiconductor, display, solar, and laboratory applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do outer rings and centering rings differ?
The centering ring supports the O-ring on its inner (central) side and aligns the flange center axis. The outer ring surrounds the outer circumference of the O-ring to fix its position, used together with centering rings in certain flange configurations to prevent the O-ring from being displaced during engagement. The two parts come as a pair, and their use is determined by the flange system.
Do all KF/ISO flanges require an outer ring?
For typical KF flange fastening, a centering ring alone is often sufficient, but some ISO flange configurations or specific equipment-manufacturer standards may require an outer ring as well. Check your equipment manual or flange-system standard to determine necessity.
How do I choose between aluminum and stainless?
Aluminum outer rings offer advantages in light weight and price, and are widely used in general high vacuum (HV) lines. Stainless specifications offer superior strength and corrosion resistance, suitable for environments with severe vibration, high-temperature lines, or corrosive atmospheres.
Can it be reused?
Outer rings are reusable parts as long as they are free of deformation or cracks. However, in lines with frequent flange disassembly and reassembly, manage them as consumables, and as a rule replace them when deformation, cracks, or discoloration is confirmed.
