Lever operation completes a 90° stroke in a single handle movement - fast and simple. A gearbox reduces operator torque through a reduction gear, making it suitable for large-bore valves, high differential pressure lines where lever operation is impractical, or sections requiring precise position holding. A gearbox is generally chosen as valve size increases.
What is the applicable range of the EPDM seat?
EPDM has outstanding durability for water, hot water, and mildly alkaline fluids and maintains good resilience in CIP/SIP environments. However, EPDM can swell when exposed to hydrocarbon fluids such as oils and fuels; for such environments, alternative seat materials such as NBR should be considered.
Is partial-opening operation possible?
Butterfly valves have an inherently non-linear relationship between disc rotation angle and flow rate, with the 30°-70° range being the practical throttling zone. A gearbox operator can maintain the disc at a desired position with precision, making it suitable for partial-opening operation. However, for sections requiring continuous precise flow regulation, a globe control valve should be considered.
Can the valve be converted to actuated operation?
By removing the gearbox and attaching a pneumatic or electric actuator to the ISO5211 direct mounting pad, the valve can be converted to automated operation without body replacement. This is a suitable platform for phased automation of large-bore lines - starting with manual gearbox operation and adding an actuator when remote control is later required.
